Brutal Assault 2024 Report
[Edit]This year was intense as always. I really enjoyed my time on festival specially when I am finishing my bachelor degree.
Bands
This year was strongly oriented on old school death and thrash metal. This is not automatically bad but for me as a corekid it was a little bit monotone to standards of previous years.
I really enjoyed:
- Spiritbox
- Bodysnatcher
- Cytotoxin
- Distant
- Master boot record
- Whitechapel
- and many more
This is first year ever I can clearly pick the best band and it was Mental cruelty. That does not mean that other bands weer bad. They just ended up in their shadow.
The show was amazing. Lukas, the vocalist is a fucking beast and natural front man. Their show was happening on Marshal stage (thank god they did not have any major technical issues) which was this year notorious for having bad sound. Fortunately the mix was really good. The symphonic samples were much quitter than on the record but that give much more space to appreciate the skilled guitarists.
Bober memorial
When I finished building a tent on the citadel wall I want to check in my tickets. On my way I was met with this:

In the tent there were group of people heavily drinking so I asked them. This is vague translation of our dialog:
Me: Hello, why is this there?
Them: Bober died
Me: How?
Them: It drowned
Me: hm…
Them: Kurwa
During the festival were mourning metalheads drinking to honor bober and put empty bottles to the monument.

Don’t forget to water your metal heads
Last three days were exceptionally hot so the organizer surprised us with shower.
And it really helped with heat and hygiene of festival. This is me and my dear friend Francisca.

Review
This was my third time attending brutal assault and I can say with no doubts that this festival promises brutal experience and does not tell you which one.
- Toilets were disaster
- Toilets were dirty and were emptied during shows. The smell was so bad even playing bands were joking about it
- Techncal problems fucking over artists
- Mashal had fucked up drum mix most of the festival
- Obscure stage several complete audio outage
- Band Born os Osiris could play only about one and half songs
- Julie Christmas had no sound for more like 15 minutes
- Kal stage had blackout during some ambient show resulting in artist loosing all samples and loops he made during the show
Please do better next time. Everything else was perfect. Great food, nice staff and amazing pits.
